Meet Christie,
"Service is the rent you pay for room on this earth."
— Shirley Chisholm
CEO, Author, and Columbus Business First’s First “Power 100” Recipient
Christie Angel is the epitome of a leader who leads by example, with three decades of experience building communities, fostering relationships, and guiding leaders to transform organizations and programs. As an executive in public service, a strategic advisor to C-Suite executives, and former President and CEO of the YWCA Columbus, Christie is known as the "leader's leader" and a natural "relater" who delivers bold transformation across organizations.
In 2020, Christie founded Halo Advisors, a management consulting firm that offers leadership integration and development services to senior executives and C-Suite leaders. The company is dedicated to helping leaders become their best selves by providing thought partnership and advisory support, with the goal of creating positive shifts in organizations and driving successful business outcomes.
The genesis of Halo Advisors came during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic when Christie was leading the YWCA Columbus through one of the most challenging periods in the organization's history. Despite the stress and sleepless nights, Christie found herself thriving in this environment and recognized that her future work would continue to focus on her passions: coaching, problem-solving, guiding transitions, and transformations. And so, Halo Advisors was born.

Throughout her five-year tenure at YWCA Columbus, Christie led the organization through significant transformations that aligned with the national conversation on women's rights, equity, and inclusion. By actively engaging with the community, forging connections with the next generation, and securing new funding partners, she helped establish YWCA Columbus as a trusted organization that serves the city's most vulnerable residents. During her time as CEO, the organization generated $18M in funding, with some of the largest fundraising numbers in its history. Notably, Christie secured a $2.5M gift from the Jeff Bezos' Day 1 Families Fund and a $1M grant from the AEP Foundation to launch the Center for Racial Equity.
Embarking On a New Chapter
Before founding Halo Advisors and leading YWCA Columbus, Christie held leadership positions in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. As a trusted advisor to numerous public officials, including Mayor Andrew J. Ginther and former Governor Ted Strickland, she made significant contributions that continue to impact Columbus today. Her standout leadership has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Columbus Business First's First "Power 100" (three years running), YWCA Women of Achievement (2015), and CEO of the Year in the large nonprofit category (2020). She is also the 2020 recipient of the Nancy Jeffrey Advocate Award from the Community Shelter Board, and in her first year of leading YWCA Columbus was awarded the Dorothy I. Height Award from the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. – Columbus Section. In 2013 she was inducted into the Leadership Columbus Hall of Fame.
Christie earned her Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Applied Communication from Franklin University and is a contributing board member to numerous organizations including Campus Partners, Columbus Downtown Development Corporation, and the Greater Columbus Arts Council. She and her husband, Otto Beatty III, reside in downtown Columbus, OH.
